An incredibly Unreal Engine 5 concept trailer for a Japanese Assassin’s Creed game has given us our best look at Assassin’s Creed Red yet.
When Ubisoft announced the next Assassin’s Creed game will be set in Feudal Japan fans, like myself, were ecstatic. A Japanese setting should, in theory, fit the gameplay and world of the games perfectly, and while we’ve only seen a small teaser for Assassin’s Creed Red a concept trailer is giving us a good idea of what to expect from the full game.

Shared by TeaserPlay on YouTube, the concept trailer was made using Unreal Engine 5, and it’s extraordinary in just about every way. It’s said Assassin’s Creed Red will be another entry in the RPG series, which kicked off with Assassin’s Creed Origins back in 2017.

With that in mind the next game will likely feature a vast open world and several unlockable skills, gadgets and weapons, all of which the concept trailer alludes to.
It starts off with a gorgeous cutscene of an eagle soaring over a Japanese landscape, before shifting us to the perspective of one of the assassins as they wander through a town. The amount of detail is remarkable, and given that it was created by a small team one can only imagine what Ubisoft is currently cooking up for new-gen platforms.
As you’d expect there’s plenty of samurai imagery, which is said to be an important part of Assassin’s Creed Red. It’s believed the game will follow two protagonists, one of which will be a ninja and the other a samurai. It’s likely the two characters will differ in gameplay style, with one relying on stealth and the other combat prowess.
Assassin’s Creed Red is due for release later this year for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC, though we’re yet to see an official gameplay reveal.
