Another update for Nintendo Switch Online adds a classic Rare title to the Nintendo 64 line-up.

Another update for Nintendo Switch Online adds a classic Rare title to the Nintendo 64 line-up.

While updates have been agonisingly slow for Nintendo’s subscription, we’re definitely getting somewhere as the last few additions have been fantastic games that deserve a shot on modern platforms.

The latest Nintendo Switch game worth a look is Super Mario RPG, watch the trailer below

Both Pokémon Stadium games made their way onto the service, complete with online multiplayer but unfortunately lacking compatibility with Pokémon Home. Also joining the selection was the first three Mario Party games, which are still a blast to play with friends, as long as you still have some by the end of the game.

Now they’re joined by a severely underrated Rare game, Jet Force Gemini, a third-person-shooter that sees a team of galactic police officers landing a planet overrun with evil drones. Players will explore the planet, blasting anything that comes their way whilst picking up a variety of new weapons and abilities along the way. Advancing is as simple as finding the door to the next area, though some doors will only open when a certain action is fulfilled.

There’s also a multiplayer mode you can play with friends, going head-to-head in deathmatches, races and firing ranges.

It’s a great game, and one that’s often buried under all the other bangers Rare have made, most notably Banjo Kazooie or the various Donkey Kong games, so it’s great to see it getting the spotlight on Nintendo Switch Online.

It’s worth noting because Jet Force Gemini was an Nintendo 64 game, it’s only available if you’re subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which unlocks Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, and Game Boy Advance titles.

So if you’ve already got a subscription, it’s well-worth checking out especially if you’re into retro shooters. It can also be played as part of the Rare Replay Collection on Xbox platforms.
