Pokémon Scarlet/Violet free download available now

But only for a limited time.

If you want to be the very best like no one ever was, a free download is available for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet right now that you won’t want to miss.

It’s undeniable that the ninth generation of Pokémon games have some serious flaws. Scarlet and Violet’s performance issues were a major talking point at launch - from bizarre visual glitches to crashes and severe frame-rate drops, many fans were so upset with the titles at launch that they began demanding refunds. Others who were willing to persevere through the problems enjoyed the games for what they were, though. I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t have tonnes of fun exploring Paldea with my lil Fire-type buddy Fuecoco in tow.

Take a look at our interview with the original voice actor for Ash Ketchum, Veronica Taylor, right here.

In the months since Scarlet and Violet’s release, there’ve been loads of free events to participate in and free Pokémon to download, and right now, players can get their hands on a free Dark Tera Type Charizard by inputting a serial code into their game. The ever-popular Fire-type lizard knows Crunch, Belly Drum, Acrobatics and Flare Blitz, and always comes with an Adamant nature (which boosts Attack and lowers Special Attack). It also has max IVs in Attack and Speed, so it’ll hit seriously hard in battle.

As Kotaku reports, if you want to grab one of these Charizards yourself, you’ll just need to head into Poké Portal menu, then select ‘Mystery Gift’. From there, you’ll need to choose ‘Get with Code/Password’, and then type in ‘DARKTERA0006’. Then, Charizard can be your new best friend forever. Or you can just shove him in your boxes for all eternity.

Players have until 31 August to claim their Charizard, so don’t miss out.
