The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most beloved video game franchises of all time, not just for Nintendo but across the industry as a whole.

Depending on which fan you ask, many will likely provide different favourites from The Legend of Zelda series such as Tears of the Kingdom, Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild, A Link to the Past, Majora’s Mask and Ocarina of Time likely being picks of the bunch. That being said, the list will far extend beyond the few games that I have just mentioned.

However, the topic of discussion for today is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time which was originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. It also received a snazzy remaster for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011 which is well worth checking out.

According to Metacritic, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the highest-rated game of all time earning universal acclaim with an almighty critical score of 99, as well as earning a score of 9.0 from adoring fans.

Recently fans on Reddit have been discussing the classic that is Ocarina of Time, dubbing it as “immortal” and a “masterpiece”. The Reddit thread discussion was sparked by Dirly who said “Core gaming memory unlocked,” and posted an image of Link and Epona vaulting over a wall to embark on their next adventure.

“It never left for me. Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece,” replied broniskis45. “Immortal game” adds echoess84, likely referring to the game as a timeless classic after all these years. “My favourite game ever,” exclaimed Corleone648. The Reddit thread was full of praise for not only Ocarina of Time but also its N64 follow-up, Majora's Mask.

In our review of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the most recent game in the series, we said that it: “effortlessly dances between the epic and the ridiculous - and every single moment in this vast, gorgeous playground will be completely unique to each player.”

In related news, an industry insider claims that a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is in the works. Exciting!
