There are few games as beloved as the Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and to this very day, fans will revisit the kingdom of Hyrule to embark on another epic adventure.
Staking its claim as a clear all-time great, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has an almighty score of 99 on the aggregate website Metacritic. What’s more, its Nintendo 3DS port also has an impressive score of 94 earning the “Must-Play” accolade. Fans would love to see a full remake built from the ground up one day but with no signs of that happening anytime soon, fans have taken matters into their own hands.

A fan remake powered by Unreal Engine 5 of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was making the rounds in November 2022 amazing fans of what could be, should Nintendo ever decide to create its own remake. That being said, nothing against Nintendo, but I don't think it would look quite as visually impressive as these fan-made projects.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was only released for Nintendo Switch in 2023, so any potential official remake would be years away, assuming that would even happen. It’s probably more likely that we’ll get remasters of The Wind Waker and/or Twilight Princess first.
That being said, another fan remake of Ocarina of Time was uploaded to the Digital Dreams YouTube channel, and it looks so stunning powered by Unreal Engine 5 once more, that it’s truly a feast for the eyes. The fan remake in question takes us to the Temple of Time showcasing its gorgeous ray tracing reflections and illumination as well as some impressive water physics elsewhere in the demo.
Sadly, this demo has not been made public, likely to avoid the wrath of Nintendo lawyers. Nonetheless, at least we can all marvel at its beauty and hope one day that Nintendo will give us The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake that we crave.
