Cyberpunk 2077's parent-company owned GOG is doing us a solid once again, this time by giving away a point-and-click adventure game for free. That’s right, totally free. Oozing with charm in a way many games attempt to emulate but never quite capture, this is one of those deals you shouldn’t miss out on.
What is this stunning adventure game, I hear you ask? It’s Samorost 1, a “short cosmic adventure” you’ll be mesmerised by, thanks to its unique aesthetic and intriguing soundtrack. It was originally released in 2003, but was remastered and re-released in 2021, giving this beloved cult classic a much-needed refresh for contemporary audiences. Despite that remaster, though, the game hasn’t lost any of its original whimsy.

Samorost 1, while not as impactful as AAA games, still left such an impression upon gamers that two more titles were released, creating a gnome-filled trilogy that sees you traversing woodland-inspired locations. But, like with any epic adventuring saga, there’s no point starting anywhere else save the beginning; GOG understands this, and now you will too. When a game is free, is there any reason not to download it?
“Samorost 1 is a very short, but a pretty unique adventure game. The puzzles aren't difficult, but their solutions aren't always obvious and even after playing the game a few times I wasn't immediately sure how to solve some of them,” said one fan.
