Ghost Of Tsushima 2 confirmed in job listings

Ghost Of Tsushima 2 confirmed in job listings

It looks like we're getting Ghost of Tsushima 2

There have been some fantastic first-party PlayStation titles over the years from Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Bloodborne to name a few.

One other fantastic first-party title is Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch Productions which initially released for the PlayStation 4 in 2020, before arriving to PS5 the following year. When it was released on PS4, it earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike, garnering scores of 83 and 9.1, respectively, on aggregate websites such as Metacritic.

In our review of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut for PlayStation 5, we said this is: “undoubtedly the definitive way to experience Sucker Punch's open-world samurai adventure. Improved loading times, enhanced resolutions, smoother frame rates, and a slew of brand-new content make the 2020 game shine in new ways. More than that though, it's given me the chance to reassess a video game that I just previously couldn't see the adoration for.”

There have been rumours circulating the internet that Sucker Punch Productions is working on Ghost of Tsushima 2, but at the time of writing neither the developer nor Sony has confirmed the speculation. However, if a series of job listings is anything to go by, the arrival highly anticipated samurai sequel may have been all but confirmed.

Following its initial launch on the PlayStation 4, Sucker Punch Productions were advertising on its official website for a narrative writer. Presumably, this vacancy has since been filled. At the time, this vacancy required the would-be employee to have knowledge of feudal Japanese history as well as a willingness to write stories on that period. This is of course the same period in which Ghost of Tsushima is set.

What’s more, on the company’s general job listings page, there is currently a vacancy open for a technical gameplay designer. The ‘bonus factors’ section of the vacancy promotes the fact that the newly employed developer would have “experience working on an open-world or third-person action game.” Which sounds a lot like Ghost of Tsushima.

Previous job listings have also been available for an encounter designer which involves delivering “varied encounters in an open-world game, with a particular focus on melee combat and stealth.” That is not all, because Sucker Punch Productions have also been on the lookout for multiplayer designers, which would imply that the Ghost of Tsushima ‘Legends’ multiplayer mode will also return in the sequel.

Obviously, despite all the evidence piling up, we should still take all of the above with a pinch of salt until we get official confirmation. That being said, I think we’d all be quite shocked if we never got a Ghost of Tsushima 2 at some point soon.
