The upcoming live-action Bloodborne film is reportedly still in early development, and insiders have an important update to share regarding its director.
Bloodborne has to be one of FromSoftware’s best titles to date, and it’s absolutely criminal that it isn’t available for more players. To say it’s one of the most successful PlayStation exclusives Sony has been surprisingly flippant with bringing it to other platforms or updating it to run better on new-gen consoles.

A recent interview with FromSoftware’s Hideo Miyazaki suggests the developer would love to create a remaster or remake for the game, as well as bring it to PC, but unfortunately nothing can happen without Sony’s approval. It was recently shared that a remaster was in the works at one point but was scrapped, which broke all of our hearts.

Fans hopeful for more Bloodborne content in the future can, for now, only look forward to the live-action film that’s supposedly in development. Insider DanielRPK initially broke the news about the film, and has since shared another rumoured update to the progress of the project.
According to the new information, a director or cast hasn’t been chosen at the time of writing, but Sony is reportedly eyeing up Adam Wingard to direct the film. Adam Wingard is credited with horror films like Blair Witch, and most recently the monster flick Godzilla Vs Kong and its upcoming sequel Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. It’s also stated Sony is interested in casting Bill Skarsgard in the lead role, a great choice considering he’s starred in a number of horror films in recent years and put on a brilliant performance.
Of course all of this is subject to change, and there’s still no official confirmation that the film is actually happening.
That being said, if Sony is serious about making a Bloodborne movie, it’d be a great opportunity to create hype with a remaster or remake of the game for PlayStation and PC platforms.
