PlayStation 5 new system update roasted by gamers

PlayStation 5 new system update roasted by gamers

Grab the new system update now

The latest PlayStation 5 system update has been mercilessly ripped apart by gamers, and it's not hard to see why.

There are a ton of features that PlayStation 5 owners would love to see Sony bring to the console. We've all expressed our love for custom themes before, and it'd be nice if the web browser made a comeback (we even promise we wouldn't use it exclusively for porn).

It's also worth noting that there have been some genuinely useful changes over the last couple of years. Discord integration was an awesome touch, as was the ability to manually upload capture and screenshots to the PlayStation app. But this new update? Well... let's just say they can't all be winners.

Take a look at Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in action below!

Released earlier this week, PS5 System Software Update: 23.01-07.60.00 does one thing. And if you know anything about system updates you can probably already guess what that one thing is.

Have you got it? That's right: "This system software update improves system performance". That's it. That's all it does. Hurray for stability, I guess?

This isn't the first time a PS5 system update has been so underwhelming, and PlayStation fans were quick to rinse Sony for the latest change.

"Installed the update and it made me stable," one user joked.

Another quipped: "My Ps5 is so stable now it will never fall to the side."

Basically the entire Reddit thread carries on in that vein for several hundred comments, because we've all done this dance before.

We should stress we know there's a lot going on behind the scenes to make these updates work smoothly, and that better system performance is absolutely not to be sniffed at. But there's always something entertaining about an update that says it's done one thing and one thing only. Stability is everything, I guess.
