PlayStation 5 system update quietly adds feature we've all been begging for

The latest PlayStation 5 system update has brought a game-changing feature to the console, and no I’m not exaggerating, it’s that’s good.

The latest PlayStation 5 system update has brought a game-changing feature to the console, and no I’m not exaggerating, it’s that’s good.

Slowly but surely, we’re getting all the features we’ve been asking for on PlayStation 5, like cloud-streaming games via PlayStation Plus, and the latest update brings a highly-requested addition to consoles.

Speaking of consoles, Sony recently revealed brand-new PlayStation 5 models, check them out below!

So what exciting feature did they add with the recent system update? The ability to check for updates for your installed games. Now I know that doesn’t sound like much, but it’s actually quite a big deal, as I’m sure we’ve all gone to load up a game on PS5 only to be hit with a “needs an update” message.

The new feature will now let you check for an update, so if you know there’s one due but it hasn’t appeared yet, you can find it and install it well in advance before it interrupts your precious gaming time.

PlayStation fans on Reddit were satisfied with the update, which was shared by the user JTStarkiller who said: “I don’t see any info on this from a system update. I just noticed this tonight when browsing through my installed games not on my Home Screen. If you’re like me, you’ve been clamouring for this feature since launch.”

Fans expressed their satisfaction in the comments.

“It's insane that it took them almost three years to add this. Now maybe we can have more items on the home screen and decent folders before the PS6 comes out and it's s*** again.”

“Just checked myself. Finally! It wasn't part of the beta, So I wonder when they added it.”

“Noice. No more launching then quitting a game to check for updates.”

The latest PlayStation 5 system update can be downloaded right now if you haven’t done it already.
