During this current console generation, it’s a great time to be a gamer whether you play on PC, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo.
However, no matter how good our gaming experiences may be, PC, console and video game developers are always looking for new ways to enhance our experience. Those improvements are often made via updates to our games and consoles. In theory, those updates should provide enhancements, but that’s not always the case.

One experience in particular that is not making things any better is for an upcoming PlayStation update and it affects the Share function on the DualSense and DualShock 4 controller's, one of the console's best features. Earlier this week we reported that soon you’ll no longer be able to share gameplay, screenshots or Trophies to Twitter as Sony has decided to remove that function.

Sadly, today’s article serves as a reminder that at the time of writing, we only have five days remaining to make use of the PS5’s Twitter integration which ends on 13 November. Once that day comes, you’ll no longer be able to share any content directly from your PS5 to any social media platform other than YouTube. Perhaps YouTube might be the next app to face Sony’s chopping block. The Nintendo Switch will be the only console that allows you to share to Twitter. Thankfully, you can at least download content via the PlayStation mobile app, and then share it on your social media platform of choice.
“As of November 13, 2023, interaction with X (formerly known as Twitter) will no longer function on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles,” reads a notification message sent to console owners. “This includes the ability to view any content published on X on PS5/PS4, and the ability to post and view content, trophies, and other gameplay-related activities on X directly from PS5/PS4 (or line an X account to do so).”
PlayStation is not the only console to lose the Twitter function, because Xbox lost it a while ago. However, if there was any spark of optimism, it's that Twitter owner Elon Musk replied to a tweet claiming that he’ll look into the issue of consoles losing integration with his social media platform.
We’ll update you if we hear of any further developments on this story, but we wouldn't recommend holding your breath hoping that Twitter integration will remain.
