Life comes at us hard. And new consoles, well, they’re coming harder and quicker than we’d like. That reads far more suggestively than intended, but the point my point about new consoles coming sooner than we’d like still stands.
Earlier this year, Sony upset us all by informing us that the PlayStation 5 is in its “latter stage”, essentially indicating its soon to be put out to pasture. This, naturally, shocked gamers as it doesn’t feel like we’ve fully got to grips with it yet.
Even though we’re still all in quiet disbelief, the PlayStation 6 is headed our way, with some speculating its due as early as 2027. Although this sounds like a far-off date now, it’ll soon come around and slap us in the face.

A Redditor laid the timeframe out for all to see, concluding, “It [the PS6] will release between November 10-19 of 2027.” The conviction behind this is impressive, however, fellow gamers are calling into question how likely this launch date actually is.

“Didn't Phil Spencer say that the current generation will last until 2028?” one person queried, which was swiftly followed by another saying, “I have a feeling that this is gonna be a longer generation. I am not expecting a PS6 before 2028 at the earliest, but I would like to be wrong.”
We, too, want to see what next-gen graphics will look like. However, we also want to explore the full capabilities of the current PlayStation before that happens. As far as many are concerned, the PS5 is still in its infancy; others are inclined to agree.

“Yeah, PS1 and PS2 gens were both about six years, then PS3 and PS4 were seven years each. Makes sense for them to bump it up to eight years for PS5 considering how much time and money it takes to develop games now, not to mention the COVID delay,” reasoned BigEZFrench.

Whether we like it or not, though, the PS6 is coming.
