PlayStation users have accounts permanently suspended

“For the players” is the slogan from Sony when it comes to its PlayStation brand, but the latest reports of suspensions are anything but.

Whether it’s PC, Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo our digital accounts are the bread and butter of our gaming lifestyle. It’s not only a place where games are stored, but so too is our gaming history such as Trophies, Achievements, online leaderboard data and so much more. Not to mention that over the years, those single accounts alone can be worth an absolute fortune when it comes to the accumulated cost of games and DLC. So when accounts start to get banned, seemingly for no good reason, the community will be in uproar.

For the players!

Recently, Sony landed itself in hot water and for good reason when it started to delete digital content on PlayStation that customers had paid for. What’s more, deleted PlayStation content is reportedly in the thousands with no refunds being offered. Now it’s seemingly getting worse for gamers of the blue brand.

As covered by The Verge, Reddit users are reporting that accounts are being permanently suspended for no reason. Some PlayStation accounts have been greeted with this unwelcoming message: “This account is permanently suspended from PlayStation Network due to violations of the PlayStation Network Terms of Service and User Agreement.” At the time of writing, at least on its social media channels, Sony has yet to officially address these reports.

That being said, Reddit user mrEnglwoods claims that numerous users on Twitter have said that Sony is aware of this issue and is working on a fix. To be honest, it would be surprising if Sony was unaware and perhaps it's waiting on making an official statement until the root cause of the problem is discovered.

I’m pretty sure it’s just a random glitch in the system and all will be fixed in the coming hours (hopefully). Otherwise, there are going to be a lot more disgruntled PlayStation fans.
