PlayStation Plus accidental price cut has left fans seriously ticked off

PlayStation Plus accidental price cut has left fans seriously ticked off

PlayStation is facing the ire of fans once more

Uh oh, Sony is once again in troubled water after a PlayStation Plus discount was offered... only for it never really exist. Naturally, fans are pretty angry about the whole debacle.

A few days ago, some PlayStation gamers were emailed – by Sony – with the promise of a PlayStation Plus Extra discount. However, when they clicked on the email, all it showed were games suggestions from the service rather than the discount promised.

Confused, annoyed, and demanding answers, those affected headed to Reddit to vent their frustrations. “I got this email a few days ago,” shared OhDearGodRun, a screenshot of the email provided.

“I checked it then and I'm checking again now. The subject says, ‘Get PS+ Extra for the price of Essential’, but the body doesn't mention a deal at all. It just gives a few game recommendations. I click a button that says join PS Plus, but there's no discount there either. Did anyone else get this? My sub expired probably a month ago so maybe it doesn't apply to me anymore.”

Turns out, they weren’t alone – plenty of other users were duped into thinking they’d be getting a discount, only said price cut never came. Consequently, Sony has been hailed as “scummy”, with one player saying, “That's such a scummy thing from Sony's part... Especially combined with the raised prices. I will not re-sub if I won't get a discount. Like hell I'm gonna pay € 150 for a year.”

Have you checked out the Sand Land trailer?

Although this seems like an innocent mistake on Sony’s part, knowing that hasn’t eased the annoyance of service users who already feel like April’s collection of games is off to a bad start. Could we soon end up with yet another call to boycott the subscription service? Possibly. Not that it does much; Sony isn't overly concerned with angry fans.

Sony doesn't appear to have addressed the issue, and it's uncertain whether it will.
