PlayStation Plus free game update leaves fans heartbroken

PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers are annoyed that an easy-to-platinum game has been updated, making it harder to claim its 100% trophy.

PlayStation Plus Extra subscribers are annoyed that an easy-to-platinum game has been updated, making it harder to claim its 100% trophy.

Some PlayStation gamers make it their mission to achieve 100% on all games, and are rewarded for their efforts with a shiny Platinum Trophy to mark the occasion. Combine that heated desire for digital rewards with the ever-expanding PlayStation Plus Extra library, and you’ve got a pretty sweet deal for trophy-hunters.

Check out the trailer for Stranded Deep below!

That being said, some games are easier to finish than others, with one game recently allowing players to let their friends do all the heavy-lifting, only for them to join them online and claim all the trophies they’d obtained up to that point.

If you don’t know which game I’m talking about, it’s Stranded Deep, a survival game where you navigate the Pacific Ocean, look for supplies and try to survive as long as you can.

Until recently, scoring trophies was increasingly simple thanks to a peculiar glitch. If someone played the game as normal and unlocked loads of trophies, they could invite a friend into the game, which would share all the progress with the other player. Even if you hadn’t played a minute of Stranded Deep before, you could unlock any and all trophies just because your friend had done it first.

This glitch was in the game for weeks, but was unfortunately patched the other day. Now if you want the Platinum trophy, you’ll have to get it the old fashioned way and put in the work yourself, although playing the game with a friend isn’t a bad idea either.

Luckily, the PlayStation Extra catalogue is full of games that can be completed for an easy Platinum trophy, and is regularly being updated with the latest and greatest AAA releases, as well as some spectacular indie gems

Stranded Deep is currently available to download for users with an active PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium membership. PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch players can also play the game on their respective platforms.
