PlayStation Plus massive new free game has over 500 hours gameplay, is 'fun as hell'

We all love video games that come at no extra cost, especially when they can offer hours, upon hours of fun, right?

Recently Sony revealed its games coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers for July 2023 and it includes some absolute bangers. In total, subscribers will be treated to 18 games offering a variety of different genres.

Some of the picks of the bunch from PS Plus July 2023 include It Takes Two, Sniper Elite 5, The Ascent, Undertale, even classic Twisted Metal and much more. What’s more, the game offering hundreds of gameplay fun is the co-op zombie slayer, World War Z.

Developed by Saber Interactive, the World War Z video game is inspired by the movie and novel of the same name. The premise of the WWZ is simple, team up with three other friends, and slay hundreds of zombies in intense waves across New York, Jerusalem, Moscow, Tokyo, Marseille, Rome and Kamchatka. Having put a decent number of hours into this game myself, I can also confirm that it’s a lot of fun, even when playing with randoms.

PS Plus subscribers on Reddit have been discussing the recent addition of World War Z and encouraged others to check it out. “I have about 500 hours on WWZ, I can confirm it’s fun as hell. And this was on a PS4 when the frames-per-second would hover around 30,” said Qritical. “Be warned if you’re a Platinum hunter though, it’s tedious as hell unless you like really basic PvP.”

“It's a great for co-op,” added Budderfingerbandit. “World War Z let's gooooooo,” said a joyous juaneskator. However, not everyone shares the same level of enthusiasm, such as CovidTest, who we assume isn't an actual Covid Test partaking in a Reddit discussion. “Aww hell naw. Y’all out here predicting The Last of Us and LEGO Star Wars, we are getting World War Z instead. L [loss] for this month”

It’s worth keeping in mind that while World War Z included in PlayStation Plus is for PS5 and PS4, it doesn't include the recent ‘Aftermath’ expansion. That will require a separate purchase. That being said, we can wholeheartedly recommend checking out this zombie co-op bloodfest, especially if you can band some friends together. Oh, and WWZ features cross-play, other than for Nintendo Switch.

World War Z is out now for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
