One of the best features of the modern-day PlayStation Plus subscription service is being able to play classic games of yesteryear. Well, at least if you subscribe to the Premium tier.
PlayStation Plus Premium includes everything included in the Essential and Extra tiers but with additional perks of being able to play select titles from the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP era. You’ll also be able to stream select games, watch a curated selection of movies and much more.

Earlier this week, Sony announced the titles included in PS Plus Extra and Premium for January 2024. Joining the likes of A Plague Tale: Requiem, Evil West and Nobody Saves The World in the Essential tier, subscribers can also look forward to 14 additional games which include the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake, Tiny Tina’s Wonderland - Next Level Edition, Session: Skate Sim and more.

As for the Premium tier exclusively, subscribers can look forward to a few PlayStation classics with Legend of Mana and Secret of Mana (both are the PS4 versions and not PS1), a collection of Capcom fighting games with Street Fighter: 30th Anniversary Collection and Rally Point. Oh, and we’re also being treated to the PS1 gem that is Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace which was originally released in 1999 and may be more popular than the movie it's based upon.
Sure, visually and perhaps in terms of gameplay, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace may not have aged all that well nearly 25 years after its initial release, but there’s little denying that fans of the sci-fi franchise won't enjoy taking a trip down memory lane at least until the novelty of the trip wears off. Plus, we get to play as Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi to relive the battle with Darth Maul once more.
All the new additions to the PlayStation Plus library for the Extra and Premium tiers will be accessible on Tuesday, 16 January 2024.
