Red Dead Redemption 2’s popularity hasn’t dwindled despite releasing nearly five years ago. Fans are still pouring hours into Rockstar Gamesnarrative masterpiece, and while it’s still one of the greatest looking open-worlds of all time, there’s something missing…

Unlike other major releases, including Grand Theft Auto V despite releasing years prior, Red Dead Redemption 2 never received a current-gen console optimisation update. The game still runs as if its being played on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and while its not the end of the world, it’s certainly holding back the game’s full potential.

PC users have no difficulties, being able to run the game at a smooth 60fps provided they have the hardware, and can also improve the visual details with some of the latest overhaul mods. Console players were left behind, stuck with an abysmal 30fps lock, until now.

Twitter user illusion0002 shared a video of a new hack on PS5 consoles that unlock the framerate and finally has the title running at 60fps, and it’s glorious.

Fans of the game were pleased with the quality, though it did lead to frustration that Rockstar Games haven’t issued an update themselves, leading many players to believe the PC version is the definitive way to experience the game.

“That’s why I just gave up on ps5 and got the pc version and immediately saw the difference”

“It looks so smooth “

“If it’s this easy why don’t they just make a patch ??”

Hopefully Rockstar has an update up its sleeve to finally bring the console up to modern console standards, but it’s doubtful. The developer has been in hot water recently, following the announcement of the highly-anticipated Red Dead Redemption remaster, which turned out to just be a re-release for Nintendo Switch and PS4 consoles, disappointing everyone.
