Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead Of Night free update available for a limited time

Get in on the hottest Halloween action around in this free spooky update

Halloween is finally here. While some of us will celebrate with an onslaught of scary films, there are those dedicated among us who wish to ride into the horrors of Red Dead Redemption 2 Dead of Night, an available free update available for a limited time.

Oh yes, spooky goings-on are afoot, with the local townsfolk looking to you to figure out what’s going on. Some of the action has already been and gone, however, there’s still the paranormal mission of ‘False Hope and Prophecy’ to investigate and, hopefully, solve. Not that it’ll be easy, even with Ike Skelding by your side – cultists are slippery characters indeed.

Remember a time before the horrors with the RDR II gameplay trailer

Alongside ghoulish missions, some of which will test your mettle to its limits, there’s also a variety of bonuses to savour thanks to The Halloween Pass 2, including blood-stained outfits and gruesome masks to keep your foes afraid and on their nerves on edge. You might remember one such outfit from the latest Rockstar announcement, a move that annoyed GTA VI fans who’d been hoping for a trailer drop instead. As long as you purchase this pass before 6 November, all the items you receive will be yours to keep.

As if RDR II wasn’t frightening enough this Halloween, there are also various expansions specially designed to embrace the horrors of All Hallows Eve, like ‘Vampire Arthur Morgan – The Undead Outlaw’. Watch as Arthur’s hair greys, his clothes get more gothic, and he has a penchant for crimson liquid from the freshest of sources; while he doesn’t go around slaughtering people to sate his appetite, he does look the part for Halloween, which is the most crucial detail.

Even though Red Dead Redemption II is considered one of the finest examples of open-world games, that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved upon by its devs and/or fandom. Though if either the free RDR II Dead of Night or ‘Undead Outlaw’ scare you, don’t come crying to us – sometimes you get a treat, but sometimes you receive a trick instead.
