Red Dead Redemption 2 players urged to change one setting for a completely new experience

If you want to experience Red Dead Redemption 2 in a completely different way you can do so with a simple change in the settings.

What is that setting I hear you ask? It’s the game’s HUD options, as if you strip them all back the game gets at least 5x more immersive.

Of course things get slightly less immersive with the ridiculous amounts of ragdoll, perfectly showcased via this hilarious wins & fails video

Rockstar Games truly outdid itself with the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, so much so that you could argue other games haven’t even come close to its balance of quality and quantity.

Switching off those pesky HUD elements can let you take in the stellar sights, and if you’re lucky enough to have a high-end PC you can make the game look even better with some mods.

Fans on Reddit shared their experience with a HUD-less Red Dead Redemption 2, arguing that it made the game “best thing” they’d ever done in the game.

One fan said “I love doing this and not opening my map at all either. Then giving myself a challenge like, make it back to valentine or strawberry. Fun just wandering around looking at the landscapes to find your way.”

Another suggested going a step further, by trying “no hud, free-aim and first person,” all at the same time.

Then one fan added they “love turning the map off, getting myself lost somewhere in New Austin, then just trying to use sign posts and landmarks to find my way back to a town or settlement.”

You could argue playing the game this way is how Rockstar Games intended it to be played, just the player out in the Wild West navigating with just the roads, signs and stars alone like a true cowboy.
