If you’ve ever wondered what it’d look like to be berated and killed by a psychotic cowboy, we have just the video for you.

The NPCs in Rockstar games always get the short-end of the stick, after all they always fall victim to our worst ideas and desires as we cut loose in one of Rockstar’s many open world games.

More chaos is set to follow when GTA VI releases in 2025

I think it’s often forgotten that we are fundamentally playing as the bad guys in Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption games, sure they’re loveable rogues who we can relate to in some way or other, but at the end of the day they are criminals, whether they like it or not.

In Red Dead Redemption 2, players are dropped into the Wild West, where just about anything goes. There’s no order, no police and no chance of survival if you’re soft or yellow-bellied, it’s everyone for themselves.

From the player’s perspective, this is just another day at the office, as Rockstar Games’ previous titles have always excelled at putting enough firepower to wipe out a small country, meaning as always it’s the NPCs who are the real victims.

A video shared on Reddit shows this off perfectly, as it allows us to see the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 through the eyes of one of its NPCs, who has a fatal encounter with Arthur Morgan.

The video shows Arthur approach a “get rich quick” book seller and ask for a refund, after the tips shared didn’t make him any wealthier. After the encounter escalates, the NPC attempts to run from the towering cowboy before being shot to the floor, as we witness his final moments being tied up by Arthur and shot in the face as the screen goes black.

It’s actually quite distressing to be on the receiving end of a Red Dead Redemption 2 player. Will it make us more forgiving and spare other characters the same fate? My money is on no.
