Steam's latest free game is an 'overwhelmingly positive' reviewed shooter

Steam's latest free game is an 'overwhelmingly positive' reviewed shooter

Overwhelmingly positive game is overwhelmingly amazing. Who knew!

It’s not often a game has “overwhelmingly positive” reviews, especially with how easily offended fandoms can get, but Steam’s latest free game is smashing it!

Disfigure was released on 27 July by Cold Brew Entertainment, an independent developer with no other titles to its name (so far).

So, what is it about this top-down shooter that has it consistently pulling in those stellar reviews?

This Steam game has a simple premise: take down as many enemies as possible. If you’ve played Vampire Survivors you’ll know the format very well. However, while it has some familiar notes, players are saying Disfigure sets itself apart from the rest thanks to its unique game mechanics.

Reddit user gruntbug said, “I really like this game - the light concept is really interesting, you can become OP pretty quick, but it's still challenging. So many things to like about this game.” And this coming from a player who opened their post with “I am not a fan of the Vampire Saviors types of games at all”.

Alongside the minimal lighting, which means players have to keep their guard up at all times, there’s also the added bonus that the devs keep updating the game. Not only are they going in and dealing with bugs, they’re also adding new features; as one Steam reviewer said they’re “listening to the community”.

Which, as we all know, is super important – just look at the backlash Rockstar Games has faced over the pricing of Red Dead Redemption’s PS4 port. If devs don’t listen to their fans, things can get ugly real fast…

The continued praise for Disfigure is so solid that several users have agreed that the devs are “cheating themselves by not charging for something this good”.

Although it’s true the game is free to download, to help support the devs, players can opt for the ‘DISFIGURE – DONATION’ option for just £4.29. For that price, gamers will get access to all the DLC, and be comforted in knowing they’re helping to fund an indie publisher.

Cold Brew Entertainment’s Disfigure is available to download and play for free on Steam.
