Steam freebie: free download available now for critically acclaimed 2021 game

PC gamers can grab a completely free download for one of 2021's most underrated games right now, and you'd be a damn fool to miss out. A fool, I say.

Every now and again a game comes along that gets completely lost in the noise of all the other big AAA releases of the year. You know the kind of game: the ones that you spend months begging your friends to try out, only to see it left off everyone's end of year lists when the time comes.

Indie sci-fi space sim Chorus is one such game. Don't be fooled by the fact it looks like it's called Chorvs on Steam for reasons I'll never understand. This is a smart, gorgeous adventure that's well worth your time.

There are so many free games and downloads on Steam right now that it can be a little tricky to know where to start. There are huge giveaways and free DLCs and everything in between.

Chorus is unfortunately not free right now, but is currently 70 percent off. At just £10, I can guarantee you it's a steal. What is currently free, however, is a DLC pack for the game - and you can claim it regardless of whether or not you pick up the game itself right now.

"Take control of Nara on a quest to destroy the dark cult that created her. Unlock devastating weapons & mind-bending abilities in an evolution of the space-combat shooter," reads the game's Steam description. "Along with Forsaken, her sentient starfighter, explore ancient temples, engage in zero-g combat & venture beyond waking reality."

From now until 5 August you can wander over here and pick up the Elder Armor Skin set for nothing at all. This is purely cosmetic DLC, so nothing to get too excited about, but if it's enough to tempt you to check out one of 2021's most overlooked games, then I'm begging you to give it a go.
