If you’re after a delightful new platformer to enjoy, you’re going to want to check out the upcoming SoulQuest.

Developed by SoulBlade Studio and TomasJPereyra, SoulQuest is a 2D hack n’ slash platformer set in a stunning pixel art world based on Celtic mythology. “Fight through countless hordes of enemy creatures and defy the forces of the Celtic pantheon of Gods as you relentlessly pursue your ultimate goal: to take the power of Morrigan, the Goddess of Death, and retrieve the soul of your dead husband,” the synopsis teases. Consider me intrigued.

Take a look at SoulQuest in action below.

In order to defeat your enemies, you’ll be tasked with casting spells and using a variety of slash abilities and epic combos in what is described as a fast-paced combat system. Outside of the combat though, SoulQuest claims to boast a rich and captivating narrative set “in a world filled with Celtic inspirations”. Brought to life via stunning hand-crafted environments, you’ll be given the opportunity to discover “Britain’s beautiful and dangerous lands”.

Unfortunately, the full release of SoulQuest isn’t available just yet but you can check out a portion of the game for free right now. Yes, as is usually the way on Steam, a free demo is available to download. That way, you can see if you’re keen to add SoulQuest to your 2024 must-play list.

Already, 2024 is shaping up to be a prosperous year. Helldivers 2 and Palworld have proven to be smash hits right out of the gates, and I am thoroughly enthralled with Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. With plenty more titles on the way, including Dragon’s Dogma 2, Princess Peach Showtime, and Rise of the Ronin, we are thoroughly spoiled for choice.
