Steam offering 30 free games for you to grab and keep this month

We all love free games

You can always rely on Steam to bring batches of free games to players. Every once in a while, Valve’s game store will unleash a wave of games for you to download and keep forever - and they’ll cost you nothing.

Among the recent batch, there are some new games, as well as some familiar faces. All you need is a Steam account and you can fill your boots. Many of these games are great for Steam Deck too, so if you’re hankering for something new to play, you can start with some of these.

The latest Steam title pulling in millions of players is the superb Helldivers 2.

If you’re in the mood for something spooky, you can check out Freddy’s Archives, a point-and-click adventure with our favourite animatronic bear that has its fans saying, “This game looks amazing.” If horror isn’t for you, grab Mr. Photographer. This platformer is a quick and simple one that won’t take up too much time.

There’s always a cute platformer in the bunch and Sheepy seems to be a hit with players. The game is garnering lots of positive reviews and comments making it one you have to try out. Just look at what people are saying. “A one-hour flamboyant adventure into your heart,” says one reviewer, while another wrote, “Really excellent short [and] free action platformer with a stellar soundtrack and cool lore.”

We've been keeping an eye on these additions, first reporting on a whopping 24 additions, later followed by another six. That totals 30 games you can grab now. All of these games are free to keep forever, which may or may not be great for your backlog. I know I’ve added plenty of these over the past few months and my backlog is getting weighty. Thankfully most of these games tend to be quite short so you’ll be able to zip through a good chunk of lovely indie games.

I’ve got my eye on Chakana, which is a gorgeously animated 2D Metroidvania based on Andean mythology and it looks adorable, while still holding a decent challenge.
