Steam's new free game may take hours of your life

If you’re looking for a low-cost game that you can sink an ungodly number of hours into, then look no further than Museum Mystery.

Developed by ST Stepanov Ivan Andreevich and Recently Played, Museum Mystery is a deck-building, story-driven roguelite adventure game that’s recently released to rave player reviews. Oh, and it just so happens to be totally free.

If you’ve ever seen Night At The Museum, then you may recognise Museum Mystery’s general concept.

“Your first night as a museum security guard takes a disastrous turn. Animated exhibits, awakened gods, and total chaos. And it’s your job to restore order until dawn,” the synopsis teases.

“Museum halls are portals into history. Literally. Walk through each era, from Ancient Egypt to the 19th century, to find the roots of what’s happening.”

A new free demo for Cyberpunk 2077 has launched.

Via deckbuilding gameplay, you’ll be tasked with facing off against rogue exhibits, trying to “calm down these amazing pieces of art”.

You’ll also be able to talk to historical figures and engage in side quests, although it’s not clear exactly what those entail.

There are four eras in total to explore, with over 150 cards available to collect.

Museum Mystery launched on 14 March and already boasts a ‘Very Positive’ review score on Steam with players praising the game’s potential and animations.

“It's a fun little deck-building game. The premise is certainly inspired by a particular movie, but this game manages to make it work quite well for an indie title that is still in early access. It's still a little bit rough around the edges but holds great potential,” read one review.

“It's a decent card battler. Graphics are fairly well done with some animations during battles. Cards are nice to look at. The presentation isn't that great but this is an indie title,” added another.

Considering Museum Mystery is free, there’s very little risk in checking this one out.
