Will we still be alive when The Elder Scrolls VI launches? That's a genuine question many fans are worryingly asking as it becomes clearer and clearer that we are years away from its release.
Even though we’ve known for quite some time now that The Elder Scrolls VI is far from finished, it doesn’t make swallowing that bitter pill any easier. We’ve known about this game for years, with Bethesda having angered fans by revealing it way too soon. Although there’s some indication the game will launch sooner than we’d expected, we still might not survive the wait ahead of us.

In Bethesda’s 30th anniversary celebration of all things Elder Scrolls, mention of the next game caused a wave of emotions to hit the fandom like a brick wall. On the one hand, it was satisfying to know that the game is playable, but on the flip side of that, we’re still several years away from playing it ourselves.

The fear that we won’t make it that long is real, as one Redditor revealed. “I just have a feeling imma get cancer or something and die the day before release,” said EvenAH27. To which someone else replied they have a similar “irrational fear”, while yet another post read, “I know this is ridiculous, but I always worry about dying before this game comes out.”
Death having its wicked way before we can see what Skyrim 2.0 looks like is such a gnawing worry. Thank goodness, then, that we have the pure of heart tale of a 12-year-old Skyrim character getting the retirement they deserve to quiet the palpitations we’re all experiencing.
We’re grateful for all the joy Elder Scrolls gives us, but we hope it isn’t another 30 years before we play the next game. If it is, some of us will have kicked the bucket, likely from the anxiety of all this waiting around.
