Titanfall 2 gets massive update, online multiplayer restored

After nearly seven years, Titanfall 2 is back, after EA restored the online servers with a recent update.

You were missing out if you weren’t playing either of the Titanfall games during their prime. In an FPS series set in the distant future, players would become pilots. These supersoldiers boosted around the battlefield with jetpacks, various weapons and gadgets, and parkour skills that turned each match into a hectic and explosive shootout for the ages.

They’d also become pilots for the Titans, enormous mechs carrying heavy-duty weapons, like tank-sized machine guns, grenade launchers or even swords that look like they came out of a Gundam series.

It was a lot of fun, with Titanfall 1 quickly becoming immensely popular, only to be followed up by the even better Titanfall 2, which was released for Xbox, PlayStation and PC users in 2016.

Unfortunately, up until very recently, Titanfall 2 was basically unplayable, with multiplayer matches that loaded at a snail’s pace, rocky server connections, and frequent disconnects, which essentially killed its active player base.

Fear not though, the game’s developer Respawn has finally listened to the player feedback and has finally fixed Titanfall 2’s multiplayer with a new update, bringing all its veteran players, and new fans, back to its glory days.

I was playing it the other day, and after hitting the “find match” button, I was transported into a game in just two seconds and could enjoy the full match without any pushback from the servers.

Fans are overjoyed, with thousands launching themselves back into the game. There’s no official confirmation on who should be thanked for bringing the title back to life, but whoever they are, fans are in their debt.

Titanfall 2’s multiplayer, and obviously single-player campaign, can be played in all of its glory on Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms.
