Ubisoft fans think Watch Dogs was treated too harshly and is actually a good game when you give it a chance.
In an industry of half-baked games and disappointing business practices, negative press for a game can often mean its death, whether it’s deserved or not.

Unfortunately, this sometimes means players are reluctant to give a game a try just because other people said they didn’t like it.

A Reddit post aimed to challenge this notion by asking gamers “What game that many people hate did you find yourself surprisingly enjoying upon playing?”
One response that stood out amongst the rest was Watch Dogs, the Ubisoft open-world hacking game that was slated for release for misleading marketing.
The user said it was “correctly hated for deceiving the player base before release,” but said they actually quite enjoyed the game, saying the “story was intriguing, the mechanics were interesting, and I do love a game with an unlikeable protagonist.”
Others flocked to agree, sharing their love for their game and how it deserves way more credit than it gets.

One said: “Watch Dogs still has one of my favourite moments in video games ever. When you have to ambush the gang meet up.”
Another added: “OG Watch Dogs will always be one of my favourites. I remember buying the game and firing it up sometime just before noon and hopping into the story, I didn't turn off my console until I beat the game.”
Finally, someone said: “Watch Dogs was badass and made you feel like John Wick before John Wick.”
Despite the negative reception, Watch Dogs managed to defy all odds and become a successful Ubisoft IP, with a sequel that was received much better than the first, and a third game that also did well in the eyes of players and critics.
