PlayStation has released a new update for the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller that gamers have been asking for since the console launched one and a half years ago.

Silly Sony actually managed to leak the news themselves on the PlayStation website last week before taking it down, but now the update has been officially confirmed and released.

As confirmed over on the official PlayStation Twitter account, "PC players can now update their DualSense wireless controller with the latest firmware from Windows 11 and select Windows 10 devices, without connecting to a PS5."

While this might not sound like much to the console gamers out there, this is actually a pretty big deal for PC gamers who want to play their games using the PS5 pad. I'm not sure how many people fall into this admittedly niche category, but I'm thrilled to bits for 'em.

Up till now it's been impossible to update the DualSense controller using anything other than the PlayStation 5 itself, which has completely excluded the PC gamers who favour the DualSense as their controller of choice.

Considering Sony is clearly trying to build a larger audience of PC gamers through releases of former console exclusives like Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn, we're surprised this particular update took so long. But it's here now, and that's what matters.
