Burger King Just Teased Some Major PlayStation 5 News, For Some Reason

Hail to the King.

Burger King, as in the Burger King, appears to have a PlayStation 5, and the fast food chain is teasing an announcement for October 15th.

Honestly. It's 2020. This sentence shouldn't even raise an eyebrow by the tiniest degree. In a post published to Twitter, the King opens up a ridiculously tall takeaway bag, and as he looks inside, blue light glows on his face and a little musical chirrup sounds. Astonished, he closes the bag, then looks again, and the same light shines and the same jingle plays. Grabbing the bag, he walks away to reveal a date: October 15th.

Seeing as the official PlayStation account also promoted the tweet, it's safe to say that this sound is likely to be the startup sound for the PlayStation 5. Funnily enough, this chirp was featured in the Future of Gaming showcase from earlier this year, as noted by a number of virtuosos out there. However, what Burger King and Sony have up their sleeves is anyone's guess.

We're yet to see the PlayStation 5's official home screen, store page, or its user interface. Instead, Sony has been showing off the technical power of the console, and its exclusive titles like Demon's Souls, Horizon Forbidden West, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. With its ten teraflop GPU boasting 36 custom cores, expandable SSD, and eight-core CPU, PlayStation 5 players will enjoy native 4K resolutions at 60 frames per second, with support for up to 120 frames per second. Buttery smooth.

The DualSense also packs a punch, and we mean that in the figurative and literal sense of the phrase. The rumble in the controller will reflect the terrain in the game, and driving over wet mud will feel very different to driving over tarmac, for example.

In addition, developers have enthused over the power of these innovative haptic feedback features. With regards to Deathloop, the new first-person shooter from the developer of Dishonored, players won't be able to press on the triggers if their weapon is jammed. The DualSense will block it, to add another layer of immersion to playing in the world of Blackreef.

For Thursday, we would expect that we'll finally get a good look at what it's like to use a PlayStation 5. There have been rumours that the PlayStation Store is due for an upgrade, and that the new version will be accessible through user's phones and on the web. This might be this very event that Burger King and Sony are teasing. Or, it's possible that all PlayStation 5s come with a Burger King dating simulator pre-installed. We'll keep you in the loop once we know more.
