The PlayStation series might leap straight to the PlayStation 6, glossing over a potential PlayStation 5 Pro model, according to a prominent industry insider.

Of course it's Tom Henderson saying this, and of course we're going to heed this statement owing to the guy's record with Battlefield 2042, Call of Duty and a number of other EA games. Though we should exercise some caution as Henderson has been confident on a Titanfall 3 reveal for some time and do you know what we don't have? Titanfall 3.

There have been rumblings that a new PlayStation 5 model is on the way in 2023, but it isn't said to be a PS5 Pro. Instead, it's a version that offers a detachable disc drive, and as it turns out, there might not be a PS5 Pro at all.

"On all the PS5 Pro/Slim rumors - I don't think it's a pro or slim, My understanding is that it's just 'gen 2' of the regular PS5," claimed Tom Henderson. At this point, I don't know why anyone shows or tells this guy anything. Henderson probably knows your medical history before your GP even swivels round the room in their little wheely chair.

"The normal PS5 will cease production at the end of this year and the new model will start in April and begin selling in September. As for if there's going to be a Pro version this generation, I'm not entirely sure," he continued. "It doesn't feel like the regular version has been fully utilized yet and probably won't be on mass until the end of the year. All I can say is that I've heard more about the PS6 than a PS5 Pro."

Again, that's been echoed in Kate's appraisal of PlayStation 5 exclusives that feel like they haven't pushed the potential of the console yet. Even with Henderson's track record, we'll consider what's been said with a pinch of salt.
