Solve Mysteries As A Cat With A Little Backpack In This PS5 Game

Last night's PlayStation 5 event saw some absolutely massive reveals that we'll be unpacking and discussing for weeks to come. A new Spider-Man game starring Miles Morales! A sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn! A brand-new Resident Evil game! A console that everybody is taking the piss out of! Like I said, lots to unpack.

But in the midst of all these AAA teasers and console reveals, a cheeky little scamp crept into the stream and absolutely stole my heart in the process. Stray is a third-person adventure game that lets you play as a cat tasked with exploring a futuristic city full of robots. That's it. That's the pitch. Did you want more?

We've seen brief glimpses of the BlueTwelve Studio-developed game for years now, but it looks like its on track to release for PlayStation 5. Take a look at the trailer below. Look at the cat! Look at his little backpack! I love him very much.

"Stray is a third-person cat adventure game set amidst the detailed neon-lit alleys of a decaying cybercity and the murky environments of its seedy underbelly," publisher Annapurna Interactive said.

"Players will play as a stray cat, roaming surroundings high and low, defend against unforeseen threats and solve the mysteries of this unwelcoming place inhabited by nothing but unassuming droids and dangerous creatures. Lost, alone and separated from family, players must untangle an ancient mystery to escape a long-forgotten cybercity and find the way home."

And of course, the rest of the internet has fallen for Stray and its four-legged hero. Obviously, being obsessed with cats is what the internet does best. We're very similar in that regard.

There's absolutely no indication of when exactly we can expect Stray to release - the trailer doesn't even show much in the way of gameplay - but remember that this game is the ambitious work of a small studio. What I do know is that I absolutely adore the Pixar-meets-Cyberpunk aesthetic, and I've decided that I would die for this cat and his tiny backpack.

What do you suppose is in that backpack? Small treats for nibbling, I suspect. I can't wait to find out when Stray eventually comes to PS5, that's for sure.
