Gamers Are Using The PS5 Launch To Propose, And We Love To See It

Now that the PlayStation 5 is either out or very nearly out depending on where you live, it's fair to say that there's plenty of excitement in the air. Sony's next-gen console is finally here, and gamers around the world are absolutely buzzing about the potential of their new purchase, and the future of PlayStation in general.

Perhaps it's all that thinking about the future that has also got many of these new PS5 owners feeling romantic, as it seems an awful lot of gamers have decided to use the PS5 launch as a springboard to proposing to their partners. A surprise, to be sure, but a very welcome one.

As reported by PushSquare, there have been multiple PS5-related proposals in the last week alone. Obviously the build-up to Christmas tends to be a popular time to pop the question anyway, but Sony's next-gen console has been playing a key role in one or two of these special moments.

Take Benvegan, who picked up Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Demon's Souls for launch day, and took the time to slide an unexpected bonus into the pile. Massive congratulations to the two of you, and well done Ben on being 100x more suave than I was when I proposed.

Then we have Rican2153, who looks for all the world like he is planning on proposing to his new PS5 but is actually waiting to surprise his girlfriend with a new console and a beautiful ring. As far as I can see, he hasn't asked her yet, but I wish him the best of luck with his proposal and hope to all that is holy that his girlfriends doesn't see the Reddit post, which has absolutely blown up online at this point.

Finally, Zachavelli celebrated an early Christmas with a new PS5 and a brand-new fiancé. If this were any other year I'd make a comment about that Christmas tree being up weeks too early, but in 2020 you really should just do whatever puts a smile on your face. Hell, I'm one bad day away from putting mine up and eating an entire advent calendar at this point.

Congratulations to everyone on their new consoles and proposals. Oh, and if you just got a PS5 and didn't propose to anyone? That's still awesome too. Well done you.
