The free PlayStation Plus games for May 2021 appear to have leaked ahead of the official announcement, which should be at some point later today.

According to Xbox insider Nick 'Shpeshal Ed' Baker, subscribers will be able to get their hands on Battlefield V and Stranded Deep. Both will be available to download and add to your library on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Baker has previously predicted a number of PlayStation Plus freebies in the past, including the addition of Final Fantasy VII Remake as part of the March lineup. After having first tentatively claimed that May's free games would be Disco Elysium and Godfall, he was informed by his "usual" source that this was incorrect, and that it would indeed be Battlefield V and Stranded Deep. No word yet on the third title for PlayStation 5 owners yet, assuming there is one.

While Baker has been accurate in these predictions before, take this leak with a minor pinch of salt for now. Sony is expected to officially announce May's freebies later this afternoon, so we won't have too long to wait before we know for sure what the situation.

If it does end up being Battlefield V and Stranded Deep, that'd certainly tie into Sony's current PlayStation Plus approach of bigger AAA release and smaller indie title. Battlefield V is, of course, one of the biggest shooters of the last few years and the most recent entry in EA and DICE's mega-popular franchise. Stranded Deep, meanwhile, is a survival game in which you play as the sole survivor of a plane crash lost in the middle of the ocean.

These titles, plus a yet-to-be-confirmed PlayStation 5 game would make for another pretty decent lineup. We'll be sure to update you as soon as the official announcement drops, so watch this space.
