"Our semi-fictional version of Iki Island provides a stark contrast to Tsushima. It is a wild, lawless land of raiders and criminals, scarred by memories of war, and fiercely independent; the samurai have not been in control there for decades," explained senior writer Patrick Downes. In the expansion to the original game, players look forward to the new environments to explore on Iki Island as well as features like Japanese lip sync, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, 3D audio and visual and performance upgrades. Moreover, those who already own Ghost Of Tsushima enjoyed a whole host of updates in a patch that offered accessibility options, alternate controller layouts and a target lock-on option for combat encounters.
If you prefer your news to be served to you with sparkly visuals and exciting sounds, then here's a nice video that covers everything that is included in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut.
Fabulous. Simply fabulous stuff. Yet, the addition that has soared above the others in the Director's Cut is the ability to pet the cats of Iki Island. In the base game, foxes are able to lead Jin to treasure and high-value equipment - not unlike Skyrim, as it happens. Following birds flitting through the sky will take him to points of interest and secrets. And, in a New Game+ playthrough, the Charm of Canine Recruitment lets Jin pet and ally with those big ol' Bankhar dogs that the Mongolian invaders have brought along with them.
Regarding the Director's Cut, there are cat, deer and monkey sanctuaries dotted across the land and discovering them gives the player a charm. However, once a cat has been tamed by playing them a song on the flute, the animal will snuggle up next to Jin and nibble on his arm. Their purrs are replicated in the unique haptic feedback that the DualSense possesses.
I didn't play Ghost of Tsushima when it was released last year and I didn't have too much interest in the Director's Cut. This has changed everything. Give whoever thought of that feature a raise and a flashy company car, Sucker Punch Productions. Stat.
