'Ghost Of Tsushima' Finally Has A Release Date, And It's Coming This Year

I'm so ready for this.

Sony's PlayStation 4 exclusive open world adventure Ghost Of Tsushima has proven to be a rather elusive title since its initial reveal back in 2017. Ironic for a game that's all about being a sneaky, deadly killer I guess. In fact, the last time we got a really substantial look at the Sucker Punch-developed title was during The Game Awards late last year. Before that, it was at E3 2018.

This slow drip-feed of information has left fans clamouring for something a little more concrete, with many assuming that the title would simply be pushed back to release on the upcoming PS5 instead of PS4. The good news is that Ghost Of Tsushima finally has a release date. It's coming to PS4 this summer, on Friday June 26th.

This is huge news for those of us who are expecting big things from what looks set to be the last major PS4 exlcusive before the next-gen console arrives, of course. PlayStation confirmed the release date on PS Blog today, alongside a gorgeous story trailer for the game, a few key details, and some of the special editions you'll be able to pre-order.

"Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PS4 on June 26," wrote Andrew Goldfarb, lead communications manager at Sucker Punch. "It is so exciting to finally be able to announce our release date, and even better that it's just a few months away. We can't wait to share the world we've created!"

Check out that new story trailer below for a closer look at some of the game's prominent characters.

Goldfarb also assured fans that Sucker Punch has "so much more to share soon" as we approach the release of Ghost of Tsushima, so stayed tuned for that.

"We are so excited to be so close to launch and we have so much more to share soon," he wrote. "Keep track of everything by keeping an eye on Sucker Punch's Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts, as well as Ghost of Tsushima's official site."

The release of Ghost of Tsushima on PS4 will mark a pretty busy spring/summer for any PlayStation gamers out there. The open world adventure is now set to launch just three months after Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part II. After something of a drought in terms of quality PlayStation exclusives for the past few months, I'm hopeful this one-two punch will end the console's lifecycle with a real bang.
