Fans are convinced that Sony is planning a God Of War 2 announcement during tonight's PlayStation 5 showcase. God Of War creative director Cory Barlog recently uploaded a pair of intriguing images to his personal Twitter account, sparking speculation that we'll see a little something from the continuing adventures of Kratos and Atreus this evening.
As pointed out over on Reddit, Barlog recently changed his Twitter profile picture and background banner. While this usually wouldn't be cause for scrutiny, there's no denying what he uploaded in place of his previous images are... curious. His profile picture seems to be a zoomed-in shot of some kind of granite surface, while the background banner is a stock image of a redacted Latin document. This, coupled with the fact that we're getting around an hour of PS5 news very shortly, suggests that something is up.
Of course Barlog is a cheeky chap who is probably all too aware there are fans out there who speculate every time he blows his nose. It could well be that he's specifically done this so close to the PS5 showcase to mess with us. If so... it pretty much worked. If God Of War 2 really is on the horizon, we'll find out at 9pm BST. Be sure to tune into the stream later to see for yourself.

While the existence of God Of War 2 has yet to be confirmed in any official capacity, it's widely believed that the studio is already at work on the sequel. Teases towards the future installment started appearing as early as February 2019, on the first anniversary of God Of War's release.
Since then, various job listings have been spotted that all seem to suggest the studio is working on a next-gen action adventure title. The most recent listing called for someone with who has "knowledge of God of War (2018) and is able to speak about the combat systems, mechanics and enemies". I mean... that's pretty convincing evidence.
The last game's ending certainly opened up the door for God Of War 2 to go to all sorts of fascinating places. The new game will most likely deal with the oncoming world-ending event known as Ragnarok. As a result, Kratos and Atreus will continue to explore the worlds of Norse mythology while struggling to survive against whatever Odin decides to throw at them.
