Guy Gets Two PS5s For Free After Losing Original Order In Transit

Guy Gets Two PS5s For Free After Losing Original Order In Transit

The shortage of semiconductors plus scalpers means that buying a PS5 is a tall order.

Roll up, roll up to see the luckiest man in the world! You won't believe this feat of fortune! When GameStop lost his original order for a PlayStation 5 plus Ghost of Tsushima and Far Cry 6, he called customer support. What happened next was simply extraordinary. The employee seemed to have submitted two reorder tickets so he received his original order and two extra consoles, two extra Ghost of Tsushimas and two extra Far Cry 6s.

Cor. Given that tracking down a PlayStation 5 is like finding the mysterious and potentially not real Insulindian Phasmid somewhere in the city of Revachol, the fact that Reddit user no_thats_not_my_name unintentionally got three in one go is nigh unbelievable. In fact, he had to add extra screenshots of his emails proving that there was an error on the part of the retailer as others thought he'd bought three in order to accrue clout on the Internet.

Well, we all know that there are much easier and much cheaper ways of accruing clout on the Internet than spending over $2,000 on consoles and video games. Yep, individually, the PS5, Ghost of Tsushima and Far Cry 6 bundles were priced at $739.96 before shipping.

It is highly likely that the shortages regarding the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch will be sustained into 2022 and possibly into 2023. The issues arose from the pandemic, which affected Asia firstly, causing the significant slowing of manufacturing hubs in that corner of the world. Subsequently, there are not enough semiconductors to fulfil demand and companies like Apple, Samsung and Google trump the likes of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo and they are able to outbid them in the chase for these components.

no_thats_not_my_name checked, checked and checked again that he hadn't been charged for the two extra PS5s and found out that the consumer rights framework in the United States enables him to keep the consoles and GameStop is not allowed to charge him for these products. It just gets jammier and jammier, doesn't it? "After 2-3 weeks on the phone with their support trying to find someone who could tell me what was up with my order (apparently it never even got to FedEx), I likely won’t be making any purchases from GameStop online for a while anyway haha," he joked. This story will either be the best or the worst advert for the retailer in some time.
