Husband Made To Sell PlayStation 5 After Wife Realises It's Not An Air Purifier

Pour one out.

Pour one out for the Taiwanese man who was forced to sell his brand-new PlayStation 5 after his wife realised it was not, in fact, the air purifier that he'd promised to buy.

This incredible story was first picked up by Taiwan News (via TheGamer), which uncovered the sorry tale of the fake air purifier on Facebook. A man by the name of Jin Wu was desperately searching social media for an affordable PS5, when he actually stumbled across one for a reasonable price - at least compared to the hugely inflated prices that scalpers have been shifting next-gen consoles for.

After speaking with an eager woman on the phone who arranged the sale with great enthusiasm, Jin set off. But it wasn't until he went to pick up his new console that he realised why it was being sold for so cheap.

Arriving at the woman's house, he met with her husband who, it turned out, did not want to sell the PS5 at all. He was rather keen to keep it, and was actually only selling it because his wife was forcing him too. He revealed to Jin that he'd tried to convince his wife that the console was a brand-new air purifier, a ruse that fell apart pretty quickly.

I'm honestly not sure what's more insulting: that this dude lied to his wife in the first place or that he thought she wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an air purifier and a next-gen console. I know the PS5 looks kind of dumb, but what did he think was going to happen when he started playing Demon's Souls on it? Even people who aren't into gaming know air purifiers can't run games like that.

While I suspect the husband is still fuming about being caught out after such a dumbass scheme, this story at least had a happy ending for Jin and the wife. Jin got himself a PlayStation 5 at a reasonable price, and the wife? Well, she got to remind her husband never to screw with her again.
