Marvel's Spider-Man, the action-adventure title which won sixteen awards across numerous categories from numerous award bodies, has reached 20 million copies sold since its launch.

Not that anyone is especially surprised by this news, though. Insomniac Games' interpretation of Spider-Man was even named one of the best superhero games ever made by multiple outlets (and by our readers), winning praise for its story, heartfelt characters, ever-so-satisfying combat and traversal mechanics. "Swinging through New York as Peter Parker is a joy, he moves with such excited energy that it carries through to you as a player," we mused in our list of the best PlayStation 4 titles. "It's one of the few open-world games that I've only used the fast-travel system in once. And, when I did, it felt like I'd cheated myself out of fun."

That's an achievement in and of itself, isn't it? Relegating fast-travel to the sidelines in an open-world game. It's a special game, that's for sure, and even returning for its three DLCs felt like a breath of fresh (New York subway) air. Furthermore, Marvel's Spider-Man became one of the fastest-selling games of 2018, one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games ever, and the fastest-selling superhero game in the United States. Our last report from Sony was that the game had scored 13.2 million sales as of August 2019, which was more than impressive at that point in its life cycle.

However, it looks like the hype for the PlayStation 5 and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has launched the game to new heights. According to a recent change on the LinkedIn profile of a Sony executive, more than 20 million copies of the game have been sold around the world since its launch. That's incredible, and shows the strength of the game over only two years, and amid a pandemic as well as the launch of the next generation of hardware. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered comes with the Ultimate Edition of Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, offering an all-new adventure with a lick of paint for those who missed the boat in 2018.

Insomniac Games says this will be the "definitive" version of Peter Parker's journey, pushing the PlayStation 5 to its limits to deliver a glittering New York City and a reactive experience that puts the player in his shoes. "Thanks to the power of the PS5 console, we're now able to offer a high frame rate through Performance Mode, which targets a 60fps frame rate!" said the studio. "This allows you to experience the beginning of the Marvel's Spider-Man storyline like never before."

Though the PlayStation 5 boasts near-instantaneous loading times, players will be able to turn the fast-travel cutscenes on, which were arguably some of the most comedic moments of the game. And, three new suits arrive with the Remastered edition, one of which is The Amazing Suit.
