Tons Of Unannounced PlayStation PC Ports Found In Nvidia Database

Tons Of Unannounced PlayStation PC Ports Found In Nvidia Database

Hermen Hulst has said that its hardware is "the best place to play our PlayStation Studios titles at launch" so this is rather curious.

Horizon Forbidden West, God Of War and other PlayStation exclusives have been found in the form of PC ports in a testing database for Nvidia GeForce Now.

Interesting. I am steepling my fingers and looking over the rim of my glasses right now. It felt important to conjure that imagery for you to grasp the gravity of this discovery. See, Sony has already offered games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone to PC players, adding things like unlocked frame rates, ultra-wide monitor support, alternative controllers and visual ameliorations on top of the gripping gameplay of these two titles.

"We want to reach new gamers who haven't yet experienced the great stories, characters, and worlds that we've built," said head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst in a question and answer session earlier this year. "Releasing games on PC will not come ever at the expense of building an exciting lineup of great console games."

Last week, we got a trailer for the upcoming God Of War: Ragnarök at long last. Crocodiles, sledding, some sort of weird baby octopus, and more await in the next chapter of Kratos' Norse saga!

Ighor July, a C++ developer, was rooting about in the testing database for GeForce Now which is Nvidia's streaming service for a huge number of games from different developers and publishers. They explain how they did this here and I won't attempt to relay this in my own words for fear of butchering their work completely. Computer stuff. That's the short version of it.

Anyway, they stumbled upon a considerable list of unannounced and unreleased games like the Uncharted Collection, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War, Returnal and Demon Souls. There's even some tasty tidbits like untitled games from Respawn, Hangar 13, and a cluster from Xbox Game Studios.

So, how likely is it that Horizon Forbidden West and God Of War are arriving on PC? Notice that God Of War's PC port has a Steam ID next to it just like Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone. That's a decent sign that this isn't a placeholder in the database and that Nvidia is expecting the game to come to PC.

Moreover, Hulst said that "PlayStation will remain the best place to play our PlayStation Studios titles at launch" and iterated that it was two years before Days Gone lost its exclusivity. Therefore, it's just about the right time for God Of War to leap over to PC, and it's highly doubtful that Horizon Forbidden West will be ported in the not too distant future. We'll keep you in the loop when we learn more.
