PlayStation 5 Owners Are Painting Their Consoles Black, And They Look Gorgeous

PlayStation 5 Owners Are Painting Their Consoles Black, And They Look Gorgeous

PS5 owners who are brave enough are customising the console themselves.

In quite the departure from PlayStation's multi-console history of going with a slick black exterior, the PlayStation 5 went white, and people had mixed feelings about it. From the PlayStation 2 to the 4, the consoles had a matte black finish, while the original PlayStation went with a dark grey; so they've always been a little on the toned-down downside. When the PlayStation 5 was announced as being a skyscraper from 2050, fans thought that it didn't fit their preferred style, so no wonder people are painting their PlayStation 5s.

After the hope of custom PlayStation 5 plates have been a little scuppered, fans of the PlayStation 5 who aren't particularly happy with the white colour of the console are finding ways to alter the aesthetic to their needs. Most we've seen are going for black, and they genuinely look amazing.

We can see user Hawkijustin on Reddit managed to make the PS5 a clean black through plasti-dipping it - a rubber-based spray that keeps the original colour intact underneath while giving something a fresh look. And yeah, it looks great, what more can we say?

Another Reddit user, Jonohimself, posted a picture of a black PlayStation 5, but this time with the PS5's controller, the DualSense, customised similarly. They both look fantastic. Although, we might think it looks pretty sleek, there are those that thought they would like the black that now see the white as the better alternative.

Comments from audiences members are now confessing upon seeing the all-black that the white has more style or substance. It's a big console, might as well make it stand out rather than hiding it in a black coating.

Well, now all we want are customed plates for our PlayStation 5s. Sony please hurry so that those of us that are too nervous to paint ours ourselves can make our consoles look as sleek as these folks'.
