PlayStation 5 Startup Screen And Black DualSense Controller Appear Online

A number of PlayStation 5 consoles are now out in the wild, and we're finally starting to learn all kinds of new things about the next-gen console. While details are being released gradually thanks to strict embargos on what can and can't be shown, some juicy tidbits appear to be trickling out ahead of time.

Over on Reddit, a video of a black DualSense controller and what appears to be the PlayStation 5's startup screen has been doing the rounds. While currently unconfirmed, what we're seeing does line up with much of what Sony has been teasing audiences with in its official shows.

Take a look at it for yourself below, courtesy of Reddit user wsb_BernieMadoff, who claims he paid $100 to obtain the footage from an anonymous source.

Annoyingly, the video cuts just before we get a glimpse at the PS5's mysterious UI, leading some to speculate that the footage might not be authentic. However, it's worth noting that the startup animation looks exactly like the one Sony teased a couple of months back. While it's still not quite as iconic as the original PlayStation startup, I quite like how it combines the style of the PS2, PS3, and PS4 startups. It's also absolutely rapid, which we love to see.

Of course if the startup is legit, we can also assume that the black DualSense controller is the real deal. DualSense variants have been rumoured for months now, but Sony has yet to officially show us anything beyond the standard white model. A black version is a no-brainer though, given the sheer number of people who have already pointed out that a white controller is going to get grubby very fast - especially with kids in the mix.

In more official PlayStation 5 news, you'll be glad to learn that the console's next-gen fan is a heck of a lot quieter than its obscenely loud predecessor. According to recent hands-on previews from various journalists, the PS5 is impressively quiet when running, with some noting that you can barely hear the console at all. That's what we like to hear - silence.
