This 'Bloodborne' First-Person Mod Gives Yarnham A Completely New Feel

There’s a thing called "being too close for comfort."

This astonishing first-person mod for Bloodborne transports you into the heat of the battle between some of gaming's most iconic bosses, and it is terrifying.

"The First Person mod has a storied history, owing to the fact FromSoftware has barely changed their camera from Demon's Souls all the way to Sekiro, outside of the black sheep, Dark Souls II," explained modder Garden Of Eyes who worked with fellow developer Zullie the Witch to realise this exhilarating mod. "In many ways, this is the same mod I created way back in Dark Souls, passed through Dark Souls III and Sekiro, finally snaking its tendrils into Bloodborne. I can't wait to bring it to Elden Ring too."

At the moment, FromSoftware is as busy as a beaver on that aforementioned Elden Ring, the grimly gorgeous fantasy game with writings from George R. R. Martin comprising its world. Check out the most recent trailer below.

A successful playthrough of Bloodborne involves a keen sense of space and situational awareness. Skill will only get you so far if you're surprised by a baddie shooting out from the shadows. That's where the game's third-person perspective comes in to give the player a preternatural ability to see what's coming next.

So, this first-person mod shoves you right into Darkbeast Paarl's maw and doesn't even come with a change of trousers, to add insult to injury. Bosses leaping into the air and coming crashing down almost on top of you injects a jitteriness and a sense of a loss of control. I know some of you out there are pros when it comes to the hardest games ever made but I imagine this would cause even the most smug Souls-like player to quake in their boots.

Though it isn't out yet, the video that Garden Of Eyes has put together sends a shiver down my spine. Not only for the spooky environments of Yarnham but for the immersive experience of getting up close and personal with enemies like Martyr Logarius. I think I'd just cry if Bloodborne VR was ever a reality.
