PlayStation Fans Aren't Happy About The PS Plus Tenth Anniversary Games

Three was not the magic number.

It's safe to say there was a fair bit of expectation and hype around PlayStation Plus when fans realised it would be celebrating its tenth anniversary this month. How would PlayStation choose to mark the occasion for subscribers? Would there be some kind of special thank you gift? Maybe an extra-special free game?

As it stands, PlayStation simply commemorated the day by announcing three free games for its Plus subscribers in July. NBA 2K20, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, and Erica (as an added bonus) will be available to download and play from July 7th.

That's not a bad lineup! Unfortunately, there are some fans who feel more than a little shortchanged by the games on offer, especially given the ten-year milestone. Below is just a small sample of those who took to Twitter to vent their frustrations. As you can see, much of the ire seems aimed at NBA 2K20, specifically.

Of course it's worth pointing out that PS Plus subscribers are rarely happy with the free monthly games PlayStation puts out. It's just that on the tenth anniversary, I imagine expectations were higher. It does seem a little odd to me, for example, that there are no PlayStation exclusives in the mix.

With that said, Uncharted 4, The Lost Legacy, Bloodborne and The Nathan Drake collection have all been in the mix over the last several months. And for what it's worth, Rise Of The Tomb Raider is a genuinely great game. I can't speak for Erica, but that certainly looks like an interesting experience.

I also can't speak for NBA 2K20, but I think the majority of the community have made their feelings clear on that one, so I'd best leave it there.
