Certain PlayStation Plus Subscribers Are Getting A Bonus PS4 Free Game

Sweetening the pot

The free PlayStation Plus games for October were announced earlier this week, and it's fair to say subscribers without a PlayStation 5 are less than thrilled with what they've been given.

Those of us with a new-gen console can try out the popular World War II shooter Hell Let Loose, which is an exciting opportunity to see exactly why it's developed such a strong following on PC. Subscribers with a PlayStation 4, however, are having to make do with Mortal Kombat X and PGA Tour 2K21.

We've covered the backlash to these particular freebies already, and addressed why most PS4 subscribers are particularly unhappy with the addition of Mortal Kombat X. The good news is that Sony has added an extra free game on PlayStation 4 for subscribers: Castlevania: Requiem. The bad news? That freebie is currently only available to subscribers in Asia.

It's unclear why exactly this extra free game is a regional exclusive, but Sony could probably do with dropping a bonus title for western subscribers too giving the growing unrest among PS4 users who feel the subscription service is leaving them behind more and more each month.

"Change Mortal Kombat X for Castlevania for NA users," replied one user. "Or have decency and change it to Mortal Kombat 11, at least."

It remains to be seen whether or not Sony will drop an extra game outside of Asia, but I wouldn't count on it. The company rarely responds directly to PlayStation Plus criticism - although it's becoming increasingly clear that customers are growing tired of that fact.
