On the lookout for a PlayStation 5? Well, set down those binos and read on, because there are massive restocks of the console across several retailers happening right now. I fancy your chances, I really do.
The issue with stock shortages of the PlayStation 5 is not born of underestimations on Sony's side. As per an interview with PlayStation's big boss Jim Ryan, the product saw 4.5 million units sold in 2020, and it trumped the performance of its predecessor in the equivalent window of time. However, it has hardly been a walk in the park for the company given the impact of the pandemic. "It's been difficult, it's been challenging from the production side, not being able to get anybody into the factories in Asia," said Ryan. "Before we started production, we had to do all the manufacturing preparation by camera remotely. I mean, just imagine that for a precision device like the PlayStation 5." That 825GB SSD and the 10 teraflop GPU have been praised by developers over and over, and the difference between the loading times of the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 is literally a whole new world.

You might have been hanging on for a PlayStation 5 since November, but your time is now. According to PS5Instant, an insider who shares their know-how on Twitter, Amazon's stocks of the console will be refreshed between June 2nd and June 9th from 8.00am to 10.00am. Right now, customers are apparently able to get their mitts on the disc edition of the PlayStation 5. They advise that if it says the product is out of stock or if the website crashes, add the listing to the account's wishlist and then move to basket to avoid this.
Smyths is tipped to receive restocks on June 3rd to June 5th between 8.00am to 11.00am, and as June 4th is a Friday, that aligns with the retailer's previous pattern of releasing new stocks at the end of the week. John Lewis is waiting for PS5s to arrive on June 8th to June 10th, and you'll need to be an early bird for this drop as it is allegedly taking place at 7.00am. If you manage to miss all of your chances, GAME's got your back, because PS5Instant says that the company has releases set for June 8th to June 10th or June 15th to June 17th. That's dependent on when the stocks come into the country, so a smart approach would be to create reminders for each of these dates and times. Good luck!
