Series like Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, and Yakuza have gotten discounts in PlayStation's Big In Japan sale, and there's no time like the present to snap this swag up.

Lockdown has led to gaming's meteoric rise over the course of 2020, with veteran players jumping in feet first to their backlog, and new gamers discovering the joys of all kinds of games. However, you don't have to have been gaming since you could chew a controller to know that this is a rather pricey hobby. Games are only going to get more expensive with the arrival of the Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5, not to mention the cost of those chonky boxes themselves.

So, when we spot a saving, you know we'll be shouting from the rooftops. Celebrating the achievements and talents of Japanese developers, there is a huge range of games on offer in the latest PlayStation sale. Tokyo RPG Factory's I Am Setsuna, a meditative JRPG inspired by Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger, is half price. If that sounds like your cup of tea, its spiritual successor, Lost Sphear, is also in the sale for 60% off its original price.

The acclaimed Yakuza: Like A Dragon will arrive in November, and its innovative battle mechanics and bizarre story beats met with rave reviews in Japan. Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered, Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are all in the Big in Japan sale, with savings of up to 50%. If the latest Yakuza outing caught your eye, this is the ideal opportunity to pick up the previous games and get cracking on before its worldwide launch.

The Resident Evil series sees exceptional savings here in the sale, too. Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 shave a huge 75% off their original price, with Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 offering discounts of 60% off. If the remakes of 2 and 3 have lured you into the bonkers and brilliant world of Resident Evil, why not take a trip back in time to where it all began? (Resident Evil 0. I know. The timeline is a bit all over place.)

Finally, you could grab yourself a great deal for one of the Final Fantasy games included in the Big in Japan sale. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD are under a tenner individually, and the famed Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is just £20. With a remastered soundtrack, improved technical performance, New Game+ and New Game- modes, this is an awesome get for Final Fantasy and JRPG fans alike.

The sale ends at midnight on October 7, so there's lots of time to peruse the PlayStation titles on offer. Who knows, you might even find a new favourite!
