Tom Henderson, an industry insider who's had the scoop on significant Call Of Duty and Battlefield reveals, has now shared an image that seems to suggest Twisted Metal will return in 2023.

In a world where Los Angeles is the stage for the most chaotic and dangerous demolition derby ever thought up, Twisted Metal invites the player to the tenth annual competition and to wreak havoc through six levels of the city. "We had these amazing visions of this Michael Bay or Michael Mann action movie going down the 405 freeway in LA, with car combat out of Mad Max and a potpourri of explosions," said designer David Jaffe of the concept, and that's pretty much what developer SingleTrac delivered with Twisted Metal.

With twelve unique vehicles with their own driver and unique strengths and weaknesses, the player defeats all other competitors to win the coveted prize - a wish from the organiser Calypso, who will grant them whatever their heart desires.

Recently, rumours have been a-rumbling that actor Will Arnett has bagged the role of Needles Kane, the terrifying killer clown who drives the ice cream truck Sweet Tooth, in the upcoming adaptation of the game. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind Deadpool and Zombieland, are at the helm along with executive producers Michael Jonathan Smith, Will Arnett, Marc Forman, Peter Principato, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Hermen Hulst.

However, a handful of you will be itching to land yourself behind the wheel of a new Twisted Metal title, though the news of a TV show isn't to be sniffed at. According to Tom Henderson, you might not be waiting long. On August 13th, he shared an image on Twitter of Needles and Sweet Tooth with a number: "2023."

It's plausible that Henderson is in fact referring to the release date of the TV show, however, he himself clarified that he only posts unannounced information about games. He hasn't replied to any of the many, many, many comments from feverish fans on the possibility of a new entry in the series. As a result, we'll have to hold our horses for now.
